- 1912 – the Kamptalhof Hotel was built
Around the turn of the century, Gars am Kamp was one of the most popular destinations for visits and excursions in Lower Austria. The town gained therapeutical significance due to the iron-bearing water of the River Kamp and the bath house in its public park, offering its famous mud baths. The former Kamptalhof Hotel, erected in 1912, was at that time a flourishing enterprise. In the course of time, however, it lost significance and consequently changed its owners four times. - 1984 - Prof. Willi Dungl had the hotel revitalized
Through the initiative of Prof. Willli Dungl, the hotel was founded as a Limited Company. - 1986 – the Biotrainingshotel Dungl Zentrum Gars/Kamp was opened
After a construction period of two years, the BIO TRAININGSHOTEL DUNGL ZENTRUM GARS opened its doors on June 18, 1986. Revitalizing the hotel demanded a financial input of 11 mill. €. - 2000 – the Dungl Aktiv Hotel was opened
The completely revitalized hotel offers comfort and convenience particularly for both athletes and sports enthusiasts. - 2002 – the Dungl China Zentrum opened its doors
- Mai 2002 – Prof. Willi Dungl died
- Dr. Andrea Dungl-Zauner took over the management of the three hotel complexes
- August 2002 – the devastating flood caused severe damage to the Dungl China Zentrum and the Dungl Vital Hotel
- February 2005 – the “Willi Dungl Gesundheitszentren Betriebs Ltd.“, with its two partners, the Willi Dungl Ltd. and VAMED, was founded
- August 2005 –the revitalization of the former Dungl Biotrainingszentrum and the construction of the new therapy building were initiated.
Among the reconstructions administered in the course of this renovation, the hotel’s entrance was relocated to face the Main Square, directly connecting the hotel with the town centre. Further renovations included additional rooms and a refurbishment of existing rooms and hallways as well as the introduction of a library and a new lounge. Renovation work also expanded to the catering area, comprising the complete reconstruction of the kitchen and the expansion of the dining room. On August 1, construction of a three-story extension commenced above the existing hotel’s car park. This new section, housing therapy facilities and additional guest rooms, opened in April 2006. - End of September – Re-opening of the former Dungl Biotrainingszentrum
- February 17, 2006 – “HEADING TOWARDS THE FUTURE“
The Willi Dungl Health Centres in Gars am Kamp entered a new era with a new publicity campaign and a new name, the DUNGL MEDICAL-VITAL RESORT. The hotel’s new name itself blends the scientific term ‚medical’ with the more emotional term ‚vital’, which perfectly communicates the position of the resort – not only in Austria but also beyond its borders.
In the course of this name change, all three hotel complexes were renamed: the Biotrainingszentrum became the Bio-Vital Hotel, the Aktiv Hotel became the Aktiv-Vital Hotel und the China Zentrum now bears the name of China-Vital Zentrum.
